Hazard Assessment

ISO provides address-specific data to assess and manage hazards, including:

• information on recognized and unrecognized fire departments
• data on community water systems — including the location of hydrants, water towers, pumping stations, and water sources — in more than 30,000 jurisdictions 
• evaluations of more than 9,000 building departments that provide services to more than 19,000 municipalities to help them comply with and enforce local building codes
• flood-zone assessment and assignment
• historical and predictive information on earthquake, hurricane, and severe-thunderstorm damage
• wind — information on the distance between each property address and the nearest ocean, gulf, or other major body of water, including the name of the body of water, as well as eligibility for state wind insurance coverage
• estimates of the risk of water surge and damage to a property from windblown water
