Building Details

ISO’s building-details data gives you information on a building’s construction, occupancy, hazards, and fire protection. Here’s the data we collect and can provide:

Building information — in addition to the above, the building’s full address and the date the ISO field representative surveyed the property, as well as the year built, front and rear building photos, and floor diagrams for many of the properties

Public fire-protection information — the proprietary ISO Public Protection Classification (PPC™) code and corresponding fire district for the property location

Relative Hazard Grading — grading that helps you evaluate the building’s features. The grading reflects a building’s construction, occupancy, exposure to adjacent structures, and protection. You can instantly see how a particular property’s grading compares with state and countrywide averages of similar structures in ISO’s buildings database.

Building/occupancy summary — an overview of building and occupancy information, including:

Construction

  • construction details for the building
  • height in stories, presence of a basement, and total floor area

Occupancy

  • total number of businesses operating in the building
  • businesses by industry type, including number of occupants in each group, percent of building area occupied by each group, and an indication if there is a fire hazard present for each group

Building fire protection

  • sprinkler information and additional protection features, such as extinguishers and alarms

Construction details and building fire protection — the building’s physical specifications, including information on composition; fire resistance; and support for walls, roofs, and floors, as well as pertinent construction information, such as square footage per floor and the percentage of the building made of various building materials. Also included is information on:

  • building hazards (such as cooking equipment or hazardous-material storage)
  • fire-protection equipment analysis (such as sprinkler systems, fire-alarm systems, and fire extinguishers)

Occupancy details — a separate listing for each tenant that shows:

  • a brief description of the occupants
  • information on sprinklers and extinguishers
  • floor level and square footage information
  • information on combustibility and susceptibility of contents to fire damage
  • occupancy hazards noted during the on-site survey

General building comments — additional information, which may include the date of construction, local contacts, and additional details of the building
